In the recent gumboot poll 90% of the 101 respondents voted in favour of protecting the wolves and cougars on this island. That ought to tell the hunters something...
wolves/cougars?

I have personnally seen a couger just by the cemetary. I can get along with wolves and indeed they should be encouraged to control the rising deer population. Cougars are a completely different thing and I am not in favour of having them especially protected.
Flawed Polling

The polling on the wolves/cougars issue in the gumboot and elsewhere was seriously flawed. There was no way to respond in favour of protecting wolves without voting in favour of protecting cougars. I wonder how many people, like me, would like to see wolves protected but not cougars? I saw the face of a little boy in Gold River who was attacked by a cougar a few years ago on his way to school. I will do nothing to protect these dangerous predators.
