You have never seen cakes like these! A new selection appears every year...and then disappear faster than you would believe!
Our wonderful island restaurants donate their time and energy to prepare and provide Quadra's Canada celebration with a decorated cake. These cakes are judged by the public attending the event by ballot.
Over the years, the event has become more competitive with great comradeship. The best decorated cake contest starts at 5:00pm with opening of the Canada Day festivities and ends at 7:30pm when the cake cutting starts.
While the cake cutting is taking place, the ballots are being tabulated with the winner is announced shortly thereafter.
The perpetual soapstone "Canadian Beaver" trophy was generously donated to the event by Chris Rose, is on display at the event and is presented to the winner on stage. The Discovery Islands Chamber of Commerce and the Canada Day Committee sincerely appreciates each cake donated by Island businesses.
And most importantly of all...once all the official bits are done, its time to munch!

Incredible edibles!
