Check out the article on the dangers of the mercury containded in compact fluorescent light bulbs (link below).

Energy-efficient CFLs bulbs can significantly curb air pollution, but fewer people are talking about how to deal with them at the end of their lives. They contain mercury, and if not disposed of properly this can be hazardous to you, your home, and the environment.

Interestingly, John Baird has just pledged that Canada will ban incandescent ("ordinary") lightbulbs by 2011. Is this a well thought-out plan, or just jumping on the proverbial bandwagon?

Oh, FYI...Home Depot in Courtenay will recycle your old fluorecsent tubes & CFLs, but you do need to ask at the Lighting Department for the favour...Does anyone else know of locations to recycle these beasts?
