Quadra's favorite fiddler, Jaron Freeman-Fox, visits home for an evening of musical ramblings on Friday October 9th at the Quadra Island United Church, in Cape Mudge, at 8 pm.
Since leaving Quadra and finishing music school in jazz violin studies, Jaron has played music around the world, studied and performed a wide variety of styles within jazz, fiddle, classical, and world musics. Flowing seamlessly between genres, but always keeping his distinct voice, Jaron's unique music now also incorporates elements from his studies of classical music in Southern India, as well as offers an honoring of the freestyle fiddle technique developed by his mentor, the late Olvier Schroer.
This high-energy young man melds together traditions from around the world in a violin with many voices. Together with long-time musical collaborateor, Vancouver percussionist and jazz marimba player, Robin Layne, Jaron brings his audience along on a musical adventure. Don't miss this one-night only event at the United Church. Doors open at 7:30. Tickets: $10/person; $30/family.
