The film will be preceded with a performance of song and dance by a group of Tibetan Monks who will be visiting our area this fall.
When Lama Konchog, one of the greatest Tibetan masters of our time, passed away in 2001, the Dalai Lama instructed his attendant, Tenzin Zopa, to search for the “unmistaken child,” his reincarnated Tibetan master. Shot over the course of four years, this visually stunning and emotionally gripping film follows a sacred quest through the eyes of the shy, devoted, remarkable Tenzin Zopa.
Tenzin entered the service of Lama Konchog at age seven and was with his master for twenty-one years. The loss of his teacher leaves Tenzin bereft. The unexpected responsibility of carrying out the highly secretive search for his spiritual father, is daunting. Lama Konchog's reincarnated being could anywhere in the world.
The search begins, crossing countries, mountains and villages, assisted by astrology, dreams and the whispers of villagers. When he comes upon a contender, Tenzin takes his young charge through the mysterious procedures
that may confirm the reincarnation.
Tenzin is both of another time and place, and profoundly in the present. UNMISTAKEN CHILD brings to light a rarely seen aspect of the Buddhist faith, but the true revelation is Tenzin’s journey as a man.
