Islanders turned out in force a week or so ago for Sierra Quadra's annual Earth Day beach clean-up. Folks toting garbage bags were in action all over the island's beaches, and they brought the fruits of their labour to Rebecca Spit where the flotsam filled four tandems plus a 'pup'!
Mama Nature was a willing participant in this Earth Day tradition, as the day dawned bright, warm and sunny. People gathered at the Spit were treated to some yummy food and to the wonderful music of Shane Phillips on didj, guitar, drums and vocals.
All in all, a great Earth Day on Quadra. So enjoy our clean beaches, folks, and next time you're out wandering the tideline, why not bring a bag with you and help our beaches stay this beautiful?
Thank you, Shane Phillips, for your Earth Day offering!
