Ken Duncan and John Toelle met with Regional District staff on Jan 20th to present amendments to the development permit which reflect the changes made to building and site plans - they report that the meeting went well and that our amendments were well received.
The Quadra Garden Club has confirmed that their donation of $2000 + interest will be available to the Society to help with landscaping, and more importantly, several members of the Club have volunteered to help plant trees come Fall. Another example of the community support so essential to “make the project happen”.
It is not too early to think about the Annual Meeting scheduled for April 19th at the Community Center, since we will be requiring some additional citizens to join our Board of Directors. If you are inclined to become involved and contribute your time & energy, or if you know someone who is enthusiastic about senior housing, please contact Ken Duncan at 3787, Val at 2841, or Tucker at 2166.
There will soon be constructed on site a large display board to recognize all those volunteers who have contributed time and equipment to advance the project, including of course Bill O’Connor who generously gave the land to the Society. Watch for it, and watch our fundraising thermometer for a “temperature” rise to $188,000.
