TThe biggest news is the receipt of a donation of $17,500 from the Legacy Fund of Coastal Community Credit Union. This is a major vote of confidence in our project by the merger partner of the former Quadra Credit Union, and a substantial portion of the annual Legacy Fund payout. Many thanks to the local committee members and the board of directors of the credit union for making this decision. This brings the total raised to $205,000 and ensures that with a modest mortgage we can finance construction of the first duplex and even think about the second one!
Mark your calendars for April 10 - the date of Gourmet Dinner QISHS fundraiser at the Heriot Bay Inn. A super meal is planned, with entertainment and a silent auction. More detail to follow. Also pencil in April 19 for our AGM, to take place at the Community Center at 7 PM. Come out to get a complete report of the year’s wonderful progress toward the start of construction planned for MAY!
Progress continues by volunteer project manager John Toelle and his band of helpers. Cathy Lansdall is drafting the revised plans for our revised Development Permit from the Regional District. John has found an Engineer to inspect and approve progress – his name is Don Johnston and he is an ex-employee of Murray Johnson at his Q.Cove office.
If the RD staff stick to their time estimates, we should have approval in time for the May start.
