2010 Summer Art Programs at the Campbell River Art Gallery

Are you looking for something fun and creative to do this summer? The Campbell River Art gallery has many upcoming art classes that may spark your interest. First up in July is Arty Adventures for children ages 7 -12 years. This class runs from Wednesday July 7th – Friday July 9th from 1 – 3pm. This creative program includes a fun variety of drawing and painting projects. Sketching, gesture drawing, and Magna cartooning will also be included. This class will be taught by Katherine Douglas Knappett.
Also in July we have The Great Art Expedition for children ages 7 – 12 years. This class runs from Tuesday July 13th to Thursday July 15th from 1 – 3 pm. This class will be all about exploring! Students will be presented with new projects each day designed to engage and spark curiosity. This class will be taught by Angela Hanuse.
Then we have Drawing on Art, a class for teens ages 12- 17 years that runs from Tuesday July 20th – Thursday July 22nd from 1-3pm. In this class taught by Katherine Douglas Knappett, students will explore and enjoy the limitless creative possibilities found along the local seashore and park-like settings.
In August we have Art at Sybil Andrew’s Cottage for children ages 7 – 12 years. This class runs from Wednesday August 11th – Thursday August 12th from 11am – 4pm. Enjoy this two day art camp that uses local scenery and history as a starting point for creativity.
Next up in August we have August Art for children ages 7-12 years. This class runs from Tuesday August 17th – Thursday August 19th from 1 – 3pm. Learn to draw and paint self portraits using a variety of techniques and art making tools in fun, expressive ways in this class.
All children’s and teen’s summer art programs are sponsored by Grieg Seafood.
Also, this summer we have four Super Saturday drop-in art making events. Art of the Garden July 10, Landscapes July 24, Forbidden Seas August 14, and Year of Morning August 28. All Super Saturdays are from 1-3pm, by-donation, for all ages, and all materials are provided… just bring along your imagination!
