GOING, GOING – construction is moving ahead at a rapid pace, with the trusses going up on the first duplex. It has been a long road since the local branch of the OAP initiated the first financing in 1989 – such a long road that many Quadraites thought it would never happen!

The perceived wisdom was that when Quadra citizens saw actual construction going on, they would loosen their purse-strings and donate to a “sure thing”. If you are in that group, NOW is the time to make a major contribution.

Despite some initial extra costs, the project is now under budget, and the crew is working together at an excellent pace. Drop by and take a look – you will be impressed! A further $30,000 needs to be raised so that the first duplex can be completed to occupancy without any borrowing. Because of the great savings to be realized by working on two buildings at the same time, and the greater productivity of our carpenters-in-training, a decision was recently taken to proceed with the second duplex to at least the “lock-up” stage.

We are getting close to realizing a long-held dream of providing affordable, efficient housing for our seniors – let’s keep the donations flowing so the first occupants can be moved in before winter……..If you would like to contribute, contact our treasurer Tucker Dinnes or any board member.

An application form will soon be available for those wishing to get on the waiting list –if interested or you know someone who is, contact a board member.
