Your Backyard Pharmacy - medicinal uses for common garden herbs and flowers: Monday September 13th 7pm
Our first guest speaker for the fall session at the Garden Club will be a medical herbalist. Come out and learn about therapeutic applications for garden plants, their history and lore and safe ways to use them. As a certified Master Gardener and a certified Horticultural Therapist, Chanchal Cabrera MSc, is a hands on herbalist, with 25 years experience. On acreage in Courtenay, Chanchal and her husband grow food, fruit, nuts and 100 varieties of medicinal and culinary herbs. Stinging Nettle and Golden Rod for allergies, Dandelion and Burdock for blood cleansing, Horsetail for repairing the lungs and Yarrow for stopping bleeding...many common garden plants have a long tradition of therapeutic use. This is a great opportunity to ask for knowledgeable advice on herbal remedies which you can grow for yourself - to keep you healthy in a safe way.
Join us for an evening of good friends, great information and perhaps some bragging time for your produce on Monday September 13th 7pm at the community centre. Bring along your finest specimens of fruit and vegies produced from your own garden plots. Perhaps this is your first year gardening. We would love to see how much you have accomplished in your first year. Bring your favourite harvest recipe and we can swap ideas for what to do with that bountiful crop. Drop in $2, annual membership $10.
