In the Spring of this year, parking restrictions were implemented along the 600 Block Green Road. Since the first day of implementation, adherence to the new restrictions by motorists has been excellent. Motorists have adapted to the changes and one of the areas where vehicles are now being parked is along the west side of Green Road on the south side of Quathiaski Cove Road. While it is legal, outside of the no parking sign area, to park along this area of Green Road, the Quadra Island RCMP have received complaints regarding the manner in which vehicles have been parked. The authority for parking enforcement on Quadra Island is legislated under the provincial Motor Vehicle Act, which states, in part, that vehicles parked on the roadway must not park a vehicle in a position that causes it to interfere with the normal flow of traffic. If a vehicle is parked contrary to the Motor Vehicle Act, it may be immediately towed and / or a ticket may be issued to the registered owner. As nobody would like to receive a ticket or have their vehicle towed, the Quadra Island RCMP are advising that if you park along Green Road, please ensure your vehicle, and its tires, are completely off the pavement to allow for free flow of traffic. Please feel free to call or drop in to the Detachment should you have any questions or concerns.
