Want to know how the housing project is progressing?? Here is an invitation to the community to visit the Senior Housing site, and view the interior of the most completed suite. Join us for the first public tour of the units on Saturday September 25th - an open house between 11 and 2. The property is located on O’Connor Road behind the Cove Plaza : drive past OnRoot Greenhouses and take the first road on the left to find us. The Society Board of Directors and volunteers will be on site to discuss the project. Lunch will be served by donation as a fundraiser. Anyone who would like to volunteer at the open house, please contact Jeanne at 285 2835.

A big thank-you to those generous donors who have sent us a cheque in the last few weeks. Any amount of cash is greatly appreciated - no donation is too small. The debt is already getting smaller. If you would like to help out with a cash donation please mail to QISHS c/o Box 682
Q Cove.

The ‘donations in kind’ from our tradespeople and suppliers are a very important part of this community project. We acknowledge the wonderful energy that is making this a success. Their donations are especially appreciated this year when everyone is feeling an economic pinch in their normal business activities. Check out the on site sign listing these ‘in kind donors’ as well as the groups who have donated cash. There are more tradespeople who will be donating their time as their services are needed - watch as this list grows..

Thank you again to Shane Hedefine for roofing. His business donated the green roof on the utility building and now his volunteer guidance is allowing the crew to complete the roof on both duplexes. Thanks, Barry Hatelt of Quadra Builders for his volunteer time spent negotiating the best prices on materials and for Quadra Builders’ donation of some materials. Thanks to Jerry Benner who volunteered to inspect the local trees and assess those close enough to damage the buildings. Your donations are making this a reality after so many years of hoping to get Seniors Housing started.
