Quadra Island OCP update
Where do we go from here?
At the public workshop meeting CSRD staff was asked to update the residents on where the process was heading.
A necessary next step that was agreed on by the community on the April 28 is to deal with some required provincial and grammatical edits of the 1996 OCP document. This includes correcting the names of organizations and documents listed in the OCP as well as moving some text to the appropriate section of the zoning bylaw. An example of this is lot frontage requirements when completing a subdivision. This piece of information belongs under subdivision regulations in the zoning bylaw.
A meeting has been scheduled on June 13 for the regional director to present suggestions to the community regarding future steps of the OCP review, followed by a discussion of the community’s and the OCP bylaw review committee’s suggestions regarding the proposed provincial edits. A copy of the suggestions from the bylaw review committee will be posted on the CSRD website the first week of June, as well as on www.thegumboot.ca

L/96323_00.htm and are found under Part 26, Division 2 (OCP) and Division 7 (Zoning Bylaw). This document is updated regularly; therefore, the online version is the most up to date.
If you are unable to attend the June 13th meeting, please send in any comments regarding the 1996 OCP and proposed changes to kcruickshankrdcs.bc.ca or by fax to 250-334-8156. A copy of the 1996 OCP, the proposed draft edits of the OCP bylaw, and the relevant pages of the Local Government Act can be found at www.comoxstrathcona.ca (as of Wednesday May 23)
When: Wednesday June 13, 2007 - 7p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Quadra Community Center - Main Hall

Anyone is invited to attend this meeting. Please bring any thoughts regarding the current 1996 OCP and proposed edits to this meeting in written format for compilation. This can include proposed word changes, policies or topics to include or exclude from the OCP bylaw, information about any policies that are no longer applicable or that are still incredibly important. A copy of the draft edited OCP bylaw can be viewed on the CSRD website under Quadra OCP review 2006-2007.

Thanks for this update Kate. I think one of the deficiencies of the process so far has been the lack of timely communication of ideas, comments, drafts etc. More use of this website and or the RD site by all concerned will greatly help the communication process. I would like to see all the comments submitted to the LAP process posted on the web as well.
