The Comox Strathcona Regional District (CSRD) is pleased to bring celebrated author and expert Dr. Linda Gilkeson to Quadra island on June 9th.

Dr. Linda Gilkeson, author of several books on organic and pesticide-free gardening, will speak about strategies and summertime tactics for creating healthy lawns and gardens without using pesticides.

Saturday June 9th at 7:30pm - Community Hall, Quadra.

Dr. Gilkeson's recent books are Year Around Harvest: Winter Gardening on the Coast and West Coast Gardening: Natural Insect, Weed and Disease Control.

Join us for this free event which includes a presentation, questions, and a book signing.

As a respected entomologist, Dr. Gilkeson has been research director with a company rearing beneficial insects and has worked for a decade for the provincial government on programs to reduce pesticide use. She has served as President of the Entomological Society of Canada, the Professional Pest Management Association of BC and the Entomological Society of BC. She was awarded a Queen's Jubilee medal for her service to the community and in 2005 received an outstanding achievement award from the Professional Pest Management Association of BC.

"Nature Works" is an educational program by the Comox Strathcona Regional District that helps raise awareness about pesticide alternatives. It's part of a regional education service created to share information about creating healthy lawns and gardens without pesticides.
