The Right Boot
April 1st is notable for many reasons, but around here it gets us all excited because today we're a whole year older. And coincidentally, our readership just surpassed the 5000-hits-a-month threshold, a nice milestone and a cyberspace birthday present that we accept with thanks!
Speaking of thanks, this is a great time to spread some of that around to all our sponsors, readers, and contributors. Together we've created Quadra's first and only interactive web forum for islanders and visitors (and offshore browsing folk from places we've never heard of).
So now, as we blow out the candles, here's my wish for the next year at The Gumboot. I'd like to see lots of content posted from people who've been a bit shy to put the proverbial pen to paper: Quadra's pool of writers, thinkers and artists, published and unpublished and yet to be discovered. Have we got a section for you! Check out 'The Muse Papers' in the Gumboot Sections and – use your words!
I also look forward to these web pages hosting the community conversation initiated by Phil Stone on 'Transition Island.' Watch for a new section sometime soon that covers this exciting initiative and welcomes your insights and input.
Finally, my thanks to The Left Boot, aka Deb Cowper, my accomplice on Planet Gumboot. Many more brainstorming conversations in Café Aroma to come, chum!
Happy April 1st, Quadra, and here's to another year of growing with you.
Happy Birthday, Gumboot!

You've provided Islanders with a wonderful place to catch up on what's going on in our community - a fun and informative site that reflects the eclectic nature of Quadra, as well as a forum for the exchange of ideas, the sharing of photography, and the kindling of all things creative.
