May 28th – June 1, 2007
The last week of the session has wrapped up with Claire taking the opportunity to raise some constituency and some critic issues.
On Monday she told the Legislature about this week’s annual Great Walk in Tahsis:

In the estimates debates for the Ministry of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation Claire questioned the minister about the removal of lands from TFL6, which impacts the Kwakiutl First Nation in Fort Rupert. She also quizzed the minister about consultation with the Mowachat/Muchalat ahead of the newly announced fish farm at Concepcion Point.

But Claire was twice able to present petitions asking for childcare cuts to be reinstated:

Claire also spoke in the Legislature about the Miners’ Memorial and Ginger Goodwin.

Claire was not in the House for the last day of the session as she had earlier agreed to commitments in the constituency. The Campbell Liberals forced three bills through to close off the session, not allowing their full debate further eroding our parliamentary democratic process.
While there is supposed to be a fall session it is still uncertain whether that will happen. In the meantime, Claire will be in the constituency this summer – taking on the hospital issue and other constituency concerns – and would be happy to meet with you.
