Come one come all for The Coffee House - our last funding raising effort of the season. The guitars are being tuned and practised, the voices are being exercised, the dancer is stretching, the bakers are looking up recipes and the coffee connoisseurs are tasting and blending. Ruth has organized donations of all sorts including pansy baskets and perfume, A&W Teddy Bears and burl tables, tool kits and coffee makers. The community has again supported the Seniors Housing Project with generous donations for the silent auction and the evening performance.
Get your last minute tickets at Hummingbird for the Coffee House: Saturday April 16th, 7pm at the Community Centre. It will be a relaxing and entertaining evening of local talent with Smooth Edge, Rodrigo Figueroa, Jeannie Schweitzer, Rick Bockner of Cortes and the folk duo of Toelle and Christie. Bring some extra cash and take advantage of the many items at the silent auction.
The generous nature of our island is inspiring. One year ago, we never would have believed that the process of building a village for Seniors Housing would have reached the stage it is at today. We have happy tenants in ‘healthy living’ environments. That was the point of the whole project - we have built community. The tradespeople who have donated their services to the construction will be honoured Saturday night at the Coffee House. We appreciate all of the help, over many years of getting ready and for this past year of construction.
On the business side of things, the AGM will be in May this year after the financial statements have been prepared for presentation to the Society. The Board has been going through the process of managing what is in theory a non profit business. We learn and adapt, listen and consider, and then talk about how to best meet the needs of the community as things change. In the next few months the Board will be developing a revised business plan on how best to manage the fiscal enterprise of Seniors Housing.
There is some interest in the last available unit and it will not be long until there is a new tenant.
Please inquire now if Seniors Housing would be an opportunity for you to change where you live For more info call Jeanne Stoppard at 285 2835

An excellent job - well done. What a bonus for the Quadra Community.
