Seal Bay Hike Media Release
The public is invited to join Frank Hovenden of the Comox Valley Naturalists Society who will be leading a short hike in Seal Bay Park on Saturday May 14th. Seal Bay is a regional nature park administered by the Comox Valley Regional District.
Frank is a retired forester and a former president of the CVNS. The Comox Valley Naturalists have a long history in the park and were active in lobbying government to protect this area.
The hike will circle Melda's marsh. We will examine and learn to identify the different trees and some of the plants found in this coastal forest. We will also look at the logging history of the area.
Please meet at the parking lot on Bates Road 49°45'36.70"N 124°58'18.06"W at 10:00 am. The hike will be a couple of hours so wear comfortable footwear and dress for the weather. Children are welcome but please leave your pets at home. For more information call 338-9962.
