Over the last few weeks, the RCMP Detachment has received several reports of thefts from boats moored at docks in the Heriot Bay area. Items that have been stolen include, but are not limited to, gas cans, electronics, and an outboard motor. The most concerning item that was stolen from a boat was a firearm and ammunition.
Detachment Members are reminding dock users to ensure their valuables are out of sight, secure, and marked for identification. Detachment Members are asking dock users to be observant of suspicious activities, persons, and vessels around the docks and to report same to the Detachment any time of the day.
Should anyone have any information regarding these thefts, specifically the stolen firearm, please call the Detachment at 285-3631 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
Incompetence

The Harbour Authority just spent a large amount of money installing video cameras at the dock in Heriot Bay. What for? If you can't catch the people that are doing this, then why bother? You also owe it to your customers to advise them when this sort of thing is going on. Why should we have to wait to hear about this from the RCMP when it's too late! We pay good money to tie our boats up at this dock, and we get very little in return!
Thanks
