The Cortes Island Museum offers a guided two-day cruise through the heart of Desolation Sound and into Toba Inlet on June 23 and 24. The hosts for the trip are naturalist/skipper Mike Moore and historian Jeanette Taylor, aboard the 'Misty Isles.' The twosome promise to serve up a constant pageant of terrific scenery and lively tales.

According to Moore, the Toba Inlet area was carved out by glaciers during the last ice age. "Toba Inlet is incredibly deep, steep and wild," says Mike Moore. As a consequence the area has many waterfalls that cascade into the ocean. "They're sure to be an impressive sight after a winter of heavy snow pack," says Moore.

The Desolation Sound/Toba Inlet trip fee of $302 includes meals and dorm-style accomodation at Toba Wildernest Lodge or camping at $280. Call 250-935-6340 or cimasisland.net.
