Comox Strathcona Waste Mgm't
Now is your chance to get rid of those hazardous materials in your house.

The Comox Strathcona Waste Management service (CSWM) is hosting household hazardous waste drop off events on both Cortes and Quadra Islands. The events will be held on Saturday, September 10 at the Cortes recycling centre and free store from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the same time the next day, Sunday, September 11 in the parking lot of Q Cove auto repairs on Quadra Island.

“Similar one-day clean ups have been held in Campbell River, and this year we are piloting the program on the islands,” said Jesse Lee, assistant manager of Strathcona solid waste services. “It’s a great opportunity for residents to check their garages, attics, and garden sheds and to dispose of unidentified hazardous wastes.”

CSWM will be using HAZCO Environmental Services to manage these events. Acceptable materials include household hazardous waste items such as solvents, pesticides, gasoline, cleaners and batteries.

Residents who cannot attend these events can visit www.cswm.ca/recycle for a link to the “Recyclepedia”, which is an easy-to-use searchable online database hosted by the Recycling Council of British Columbia. This program allows residents to search for a product and find its closest drop off facility.
