They did it! Judging from the flurry of emails that crossed in cyberspace, a bunch of crazy island cyclo-paths pulled off the 100 K bike ride with the Polar Bear Swim as the side o' fries. Okay, most of the riders were looky-loos on that detail, but I hear the intrepid Jack Mar actually took the plunge. (Like, what planet is the man from?)
Here are some pix that were sent as proof that New Year's Day saw the launch of a new and certifiably crazy island tradition. The ratio of dirt to difficulty was satisfyingly high for all concerned, and apparently now there's talk of making this a first-Sunday-of-the-month tradition as well. Holy spokes! That adds up to 1100 more kilometers in 11 days before New Years 2013! Anyone wanting to join in the insanity is welcome. Check in with Island Cycle or some other nutbar two-wheelers near you. Get down, get dirty, get ridin'!
The bike is just to hold everyone up....
