On January 13 at 7:45, Friday Flicks kicks off its Spring Season at the Community Centre with Midnight in Paris (Rated:G).
MIDNIGHT IN PARIS is Woody Allen’s most satisfying and funniest effort in many years and Owen Wilson as Gil, is the shaggy-haired actor with just the right mix of intellectual disgruntlement and childlike wonder, to bring new life to Allen’s latest alter ego - a Hollywood screenwriter on vacation in Paris with his wealthy and gorgeous fiancée, Inez and her snooty Republican parents.
Inez is into shopping more than arts and culture. Gil follows his muse on late night reveries that take him way back to the '20's and into the company of the Paris émigré elite of the era.
Allen is breezily concise, especially as the story heats up, and the experience of MIDNIGHT IN PARIS as a whole is a nostalgic delight. Allen, too, yearns for better, deeper times.
