Hayley Shephard's Beautiful Burden
Join Sierra Quadra this Saturday, February 18th, for Hayley's presentation and talk about her quest to save the struggling Albatross. Her stunning slide show and inspirational story will take you on an extraordinary journey. In 2010 she made a solo sea kayak expedition on the coast of the remote sub-Antarctic Island of South Georgia, home to a number of albatross species. Hayley paddled beneath the soaring 12 foot wingspans of the wandering albatross whose numbers are in devastating decline. Hayley, who now lives in Alert Bay, hopes to bring public awareness to the albatross's plight and to share a solution for saving them.
Join Hayley Shephard and Sierra Quadra this Saturday evening at the Quadra Community Centre at 7:30pm. Admission is by donation, and offerings from the island's bakers – perpetually dedicated to deliciousness – will be on hand. Doors open at 7pm.
