70 or Over? Let's Count you In!
( A Call to Action: part 2.)
VIHA tells us that allocation of Residential beds for Seniors is based on how many people are in the 75 plus age group in an area. Currently they are not considering any beds on Quadra. To have any chance of convincing VIHA that there is indeed a need for Residential care for Seniors on Quadra we need accurate numbers of how many of us are in the various age groups. Quadra Circle is in sleuthing mode and going to get the data with your help.
We are asking that anyone 70 or older phone and give us your name, year of birth and telephone number and ideally mention if you need care services now or expect you will soon. Contact Marie at 285-3950 for the South end, Betty at 3590 for Q Cove, Mary at 3084 for Heriot Bay, Maureen at 2221 for north of Dickie Rd. and Carol at 3737 for the Loop and anywhere not mentioned. Leave a message with the information if no reply or call one of the others. If you know of anyone who might not respond who should be counted please get their permission and phone in for them. Thank you.
Anyone interested is invited to hear Terry Fulton speak after the seniors' lunch at 1281 West Rd.on Friday, March 8. Terry is passionate about Senior housing and is going to share with us the knowledge and tips he acquired as one of the people getting theWillow Point Supportive Living housing built. Exercises 11am, lunch 12 noon, Speaker 12.30.
Another important speaker not to be missed by anyone looking at options when they age is Mary Cook, RN, the new case manager for Community Support (replacing Janet Wasnea). She will tell us what services we can or cannot expect from VIHA when we need them. She will speak after the Irish lunch at the Community Centre on March 15th.
