Violinnovator, Jaron Freeman-Fox, returns to Quadra Island for one night only on his coast to coast tour.

Jaron’s musical curiosity and eclecticism has found a perfect foil in the Toronto-based musicians that form the five-piece band The Opposite of Everything, who are: Brasstronaut clarinetist Sam Davidson, electro-pop klezmer accordionist Robbie Grunwald, jazz bassist Charles James, and drummer Dan Stadnicki.

Jaron’s music dances a fine line between the beautiful and the ridiculous. The band’s seriously cheerful merging of bluegrass with Indian music, sea shanties with African beats, and signature bluesy-klezmer, has been picking up breathless reviews and happy acolytes at major festivals and clubs across Canada.

He has produced or played on over 40 albums and toured the world many times over as solo artist, frontman and collaborator, joining bands such as Delhi 2 Dublin, The David Woodhead Confabulation and Ben Caplan. He won the International Songwriters Competition in 2013 for his latest album with The Opposite of Everything. He also won the independent Music Award for instrumental song of the year in 2012.

The Opposite of Everything transforms Freeman-Fox’s intricate compositions into an infectious party! Don't miss this band of merry showmen and their sharp-as-a-knife musicianship. After their summer tour they head overseas this fall, for their first major European tour with the new, eagerly-awaited album.

First they take Quadra Island – then they’ll take Berlin.

Tickets: $15 at the door (sliding scale available; kids under 12 free with family).
