Moss Mania
October 27, 11–3 pm
with Frank Boas
Meet at the Hope Spring Trailhead
Learn to identify mosses along one of Quadra’s beautiful trails! Hope Spring Trail climbs slowly near a patch of Devil's Club, winding through some old Douglas Fir and beside a rock wall – providing a range of habitats for numerous mosses. The ridge top features wet hollows where unusual varieties of sphagnum moss grow. The moderate climb through many wildlife habitats also offers stunning mountain vistas. After a couple of hours exploring and collecting mosses, we'll head indoors to examine and identify our treasures - and swap moss stories about the ones that got away!
Bring your lunch.
