Whether you’re attending a holiday get-together or meeting up with friends to watch the game, if your festivities involve alcohol, make sure to plan ahead for a safe ride home.

The Quadra Island RCMP want you to enjoy a safe holiday season with your family and friends.

Here are a few tips to say safe on the road:

**1) Take your turn to be a designated driver: Being a designated driver is a shared responsibility; take your turn to help get your friends home safely.

2) Plan your safe ride home before you start drinking: If you’re going to drink, choose a designated driver before heading out.

3) Use other options to get home safely: Call a taxi or call a sober friend.

During the month of December, an average of five people are killed in B.C. each year in crashes involving impaired driving.

Police across the province including the Quadra Island RCMP will be out in full force at CounterAttack roadchecks this holiday season looking for drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Little Known Fact: If you drive while impaired, you could void your insurance and may be responsible to pay for all damages and injuries you cause to yourself and others.
