A lively 6-part series, laying out the steps to achieve the garden you envision reconciled with the time you have for it. Each class will start with a presentation on the day’s topic, followed by questions and a walk through production garden.
Classes are held Saturdays from 10-12 at the Linnaea Farm Education Center.
o MARCH 1ST – SENSE OF PLACE, PLANNING, PHENOLOGY - helps us time the planting schedule in the garden with the season at hand
o MARCH 15TH – SEASON EXTENSION – seeding, cloches and covers
o MARCH 29TH – ROTATIONS/CULTIVATION - two practices that must be understood to have long-term success in the garden
o APRIL 5TH – SOIL & COMPOST - are at the heart of good ecological agriculture
o APRIL 19TH – PESTS & WEEDS - just plants and creatures in places you don’t want them; eating things intended for you. learn to move towards prevention and good garden management, working with nature and not against it.
o MAY 3RD – YEAR ROUND CROPPING/IRRIGATION - the best part of a coastal garden, fresh food from the garden all year, the balance of water and the succession of the garden through all the seasons
