Last night was the annual Heriot Bay Tru-Value Store's 'Customer Appreciation Night' . As usual, a good time was had by the many who attended, and loads of great food and drink samples were consumed. Of course there were the multitude of prizes on offer too, and many happy folk went away with arms full of giveaway products and produce.

One of the important, but not so immediately appreciated, bonuses of these evenings is the opportunity to chat in person to the actual producers of the items on offer.

For instance....I was busy hanging out at the gumboot's info table for most of the evening, but did appreciate being able to sneak away and taste the yummy all-natural ice-cream that many had been raving about (yes, the cold stuff is on the list of my indulgences!). The product is fab, but I learnt a bit about the different processes of making ice-cream, and how this stuff differs from the conventional methods used (turns out that this takes 3 days, and that all of the ingredients are fresh...right down to the husking of the coconuts for the flavour of my choice). Definitely on my next shopping list!

Anyhow, I digress....the reason for bringing up the value of finding out details of the products you buy is that you can now do your research right here on the gumboot! Yes, as of last night, the Heriot Bay Tru-Value Store has its own web-zine embedded right here on thegumboot.ca!

You can access the site from anywhere on the gumboot .... pretty much from wherever you see the store's heron logo displayed. Check it out for tons of info... including details of the products and links to their producer's websites, the store's departments and staff, the weekly specials, and much much more!

PS...details of that wonderful ice-cream can be found at http://www.udderguysicecream.com ...or of course, I am sure that the info will soon be right here on the store's gumboot site!
Mmmm, yummy!
