Quadra Island Quilters Marathon,

Let the rains come! We'll stay cosy inside while lengths of donated colourful fabrics, soft battings, busy fingers, humming motors, laughter, and light fill the Community Centre. For two full days every fall the Quadra Quilters' Guild and members of the community get together to create dozens of comfort quilts for the Quadra Island community and to benefit patients of the Oncology Unit of Vancouver Children's Hospital.

This year the Quilters Marathon is scheduled for October 25th and 26th at the Quadra Community Centre. Anyone is invited to come between 10am Saturday and 4pm Sunday to see the process, although the best time will be Sunday afternoon. On Saturday quilters will be piecing fabric together to make the colourful tops, and by Sunday afternoon some of the quilts will be layered together and nearing completion.

We gratefully accept help from people wishing to become involved. We can use pressers, cutters, sewers or general helpers. Volunteers can enjoy a hot lunch on either day. You may call Arlis Scott at 285-2879
