The “Duchess of Dirt”, Leslie Cox will present her “Horticultural Wonders” talk to the garden club on Monday November 10th, 7 pm at the Community Centre. Leslie is a garden writer, an educator and the President of the Comox Valley Horticultural Society. She writes a column for the Comox Valley Record newspaper. Her family gardens on their Black Creek property, where open houses, teas and tours of the garden are frequent events.
Her talk Monday night will be about flowers, her horticultural wonders. Leslie will show us her artistic talent with ‘interesting ideas for landscaping and … stunning plant combinations’. The recent trend, toward growing your own food and buying local, has put the topic of aesthetic horticultural on the sidelines for the last few years. Not to say that vegetables aren’t beautiful, but to grow a flower for its colour, scent, texture and pattern is an art form that everyone can appreciate. Leslie’s garden ‘has been created with love and an intense passion for nature’. She will share with us information on an ‘eclectic mix of plant species that are guaranteed to be a delight in any garden’. To preview her work go to her web page: duchessofdirt.ca
