The bulbs are pushing out of the ground and some folks are starting to ponder what they will grow this year. If you would like a garden plot, especially one not in the trees, consider signing up for a plot at the Old Farm Community Garden on West Road. Plots come in three sizes: 100, 200 and 400 square feet. There is lots of sun, lots of water and the ground is easy to dig. The gardeners come in all levels of experience, and with a variety of purposes. Some people use their plot to grow only crops needing a lot of heat, such as squashes and melons, yes melons! Some people grow fruit, others grow vegetables from artichokes to zucchinis. Some people think you will need to be at the garden every day on our hot summer days, but that is not the case for all plants.
To learn more about the garden consider attending the annual general meeting this Sunday, February 22 from 10-12 at the Community Centre.
