Advanced Directive: An Introduction
Monday, May 11, 1-3 pm
Quadra Island Bible Church, Lower Level
An advanced directive is a legal medical document in British Columbia that is a statement of an individual’s wishes regarding ongoing medical care should they be in a situation where they are unable to speak for themselves. This is used in circumstances both in hospital and at home to assist health practitioners and family members to make important decisions regarding care of the individual that is consistent with their values and philosophy.
While everyone should have an advanced directive regardless of age, it becomes more important as we enter our senior years.
Join Pat Peterson, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Betty Doak as we attempt to simplify this document and provide you with some ideas as to how you can personalize it for your purposes.
Materials and references provided. Please register with Betty Doak at 285-3590 as we like to limit the course to ten individuals.
