On August 10th, 2015 Quadra RCMP received a report of another type of fraud that was attempted on the Island. The complainant received a call from a male claiming to be is nephew. This male advised that he was in big trouble and was arrested for drunk driving and needed money. The complainant was familiar with this type of fraud and began to ask questions such as what the nephews last name was. The male promptly hung up the phone. This is a common scam and the people on the other end of the line pretend to be nieces, nephews, grandsons, grand daughters or even lawyers. They will then ask you to send money in a variety of different ways. Please pass this information on to others so no one becomes another victim of this fraud.
