Deb Cowper - DPA
At the Discovery Passage Aquarium we are happy to announce that our very large and delightful guest for the next few months has arrived! O120 (yes, she could do with a more catchy name!)...or rather her skeleton....is now a fantastic interpretive prop, and she will be with us for the next couple of months as the centrepiece of our Build-a-Whale programming.
We just cannot wait to begin using O120 in programming for schools, homeschoolers, special groups, and for the public. The first public session takes place on Friday the 4th of September at the Aquarium, 11.00 am (see poster below), but you do need to pre-book. Watch this space, our FB page, and the paper for news of dates and times for other public Build-a-Whale events once our Explorer Lab becomes fully operational this September.
Also watch for announcements about our guest speaker, the wonderful Jackie Hildering, aka The Marine Detective (themarinedetective.com), who will bring her charm and an incredible knowledge about these whales to share with us as part of our Public Science Presentation series later in September.
We must also give huge thanks to our friends at Discovery Marine Safaris (adventurewhalewatching.com) and Stubbs Island Whale Watching (stubbs-island.com) who have generously sponsored O120's time with us!!
