Nigel Lambeth, from Campbell River Garden Centre, will be the guest speaker at the Garden Club meeting on Monday November 9th, 7 pm at the Community Centre. Nigel and his wife, Shauna, purchased the Garden Centre in 1995 making 2015 their 21st year as owners. Immigrating from a small town on the south island of New Zealand, Nigel moved to Campbell River after meeting Shauna, while travelling overseas. He enjoys the variety of outdoor experiences that living in this area offers including gardening (of course), fishing, camping, and skiing. Nigel was the Chairman of the Campbell River Beautification Committee, and during his time on the Committee, Campbell River won first place nationally from Communities in Bloom.
Nigel’s seasonal topic will be how to make an evergreen moss framed wreath for the holidays. Just in time for decorating your home, he will demonstrate step by step, the materials needed and the construction of a natural wreath. As well, Nigel will offer a question and answer session on any garden related topics. Come prepared to get some great local advice on any issues of concern in your garden.
Please bring something for the show and tell table – we know there are still flowers blooming in your garden. This will be the last regular meeting of 2015 so come out and enjoy. A club potluck will take place in early December - stay tuned for the date and time of this get together. Don’t forget to dig your summer bulbs, and to winterize any irrigation or hose nozzles before it is too late. Annual membership is $10 which gives a discount at many local nurseries. Drop in $3.
