Sierra Quadra
JOIN SIERRA QUADRA TONIGHT (SATURDAY November 28) at QCC for a free screening of Avi Lewis’s award-winning film, This Changes Everything. Based on his wife Naomi Klein’s book of the same name, he began filming long before her book actually hit the shelves.
As the book’s dustjacket alludes, the really inconvenient truth about climate change is that “it’s not about carbon – it’s about capitalism.” Avi Lewis starts there and travels far to deliver a film about the subject that doesn’t make the genre-weary go diving for cover. His self-appointed task: (a) to make a film about humanity’s biggest survival crisis to date; (b) not begin and end with polar bears; and (c) leave his audience with some hope to work with. Does he succeed? There's only one way to find out – come to the Community Centre for the 7:30pm screening on Saturday November 28! Free Admission is free, and you can expect all the usual yummy treats that Sierra Quadra's bakers serve up.
For all you print junkies who like to see-the-movie-read-the-book in that order: TCE is available at Book Bonanza.
