Hilary Stewart Memorial Silent Auction & Concert April 17th
The Silent Auction is on SUNDAY April 17th from 12:00- 5:00 in room 3 and then open again at the concert intermission for final bids.
Hilary Stewart was a renowned local anthropologist, author and artist who loved this community and loved her Community Centre. She helped spearhead, plan, volunteer and donate to so many aspects of the Community Centre. Some very integral parts of what you see and love today are thanks to her commitment, passion and involvement. We’d like to take a moment to remember and give our thanks to Hilary. Hilary’s legacy continues even now, as she has bequeathed not only some of her beautiful personal works of art and some collectables to be auctioned off for a fundraiser for QCC, but she has also left us with some important funding. This funding will help the Society and some Committees with sustainability for years to come. In thanks and memory of Hilary, we are planning a very special event in collaboration with the Rec Society’s Cultural Committee. On Sunday, April 17, 2016, there will be a silent auction of some of her art and memorabilia and then an exciting dance/concert with the super fun group The Lemon Bucket Orkestra. Also, thanks to Hilary, tickets are subsidized and are only $10. If you don’t have a ticket to the concert or can’t make it that evening there will be plenty of opportunity to bid on items, as the silent auction will be open from 12:00- 5:00 during the day and then open again at the concert intermission for concert goers to make bids. Hilary knew what a key part of the community the Quadra Community Centre is and how important the support of community members is to keep it thriving. It was her specific wish that an Auction of her possessions be held as a fundraiser for QCC, so please come out, show your support for QCC, and go home with some of Hilary’s treasures!
