Personal preparedness is the foundation of emergency preparedness, and it works best when neighbours pool their resources and skills to respond together in the face of disaster.
The Quadra Emergency Program supports neighbourhood groups to develop information on how to prepare your neighbourhood to be self-sufficient for up to one week after a disaster. This will require each group to inventory their immediate neighbours for skills and equipment, and to establish an emergency team to assist in fire suppression, light rescue, damage assessment, communication, first aid and shelter.
We're holding a meeting of interested residents in the Fox Road / Quadra Loop area to start the process of organizing our neighbourhood and developing leaders and alternates to form a local Emergency team, and to start an inventory of our neighbourhood resources.
Our first meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 12 at 7:30, at 210 Quadra Loop. Please contact Lynda Bell at 285-3205 if you need more information.
