Susanna for SeaFest
Because the waters around Cortes Island are closed to shellfish harvesting, this year the organizers of the Cortes Seafest are purchasing oysters from Mac’s Oysters of Fanny Bay, who in turn obtain the oysters from the west coast whose waters are clear of red tide. Fisheries and Oceans Canada are responsible for the opening and closing of shellfish harvest areas. The west coast waters are open and oysters in cooked dishes are certified safe by Mac’s Oysters. Our raw bar will be serving oysters processed and certified safe by the Sawmill Bay Shellfish Company.
In addition to everything you already know about Seafest: the fabulous seafood brought to you by 70 of your Cortesian neighbours and friends; all-day music; a free shuttle to and from every Cortes ferry so you can leave your car on Quadra—youth in support of The Cortes Children’s Forest will perform a Reader's Theatre adaption of The Lorax. Dr. Suess' inspired story is set in a glorious place filled with Truffula trees, brown Barbaloots, and Swomee-swans. Beginning at 1:50 and using blocks, fabric, and music, the youth create the mythical world of the Lorax.
