On Friday, September 16 at 7:45, Friday Flicks and Naked Bicycles present Marinoni: The Fire In The Frame at Quadra Community Centre. Filmmaker Tony Girardin will be in attendance and a Q and A will follow the screening. Tickets are $10 (reg) $8 (seniors and students).
Guisseppe Marinoni found his calling when he transitioned from champion cyclist to master bike craftsman. But after years hunched over toxic fumes, his passion almost killed him. Today at age 75, Marinoni is back in top shape, and decides to attempt the world hour record for his age group, all on a bike he built with his own hands almost 40 years ago.
It took filmmaker Tony Girardin three years to convince revered bicycle craftsman Marinoni to let him make a movie about him. The result is a funny, inspiring portrait of an irascible, yet lovable craftsman and athlete.
