Get ready for a fascinating journey through time! A treasure trove for fossils millions of years old, Vancouver Island has seen the discovery of new species and even new genera of vertebrate, invertebrate and plant fossils that have helped to understand aspects of past climates, plate tectonics and evolution of various organisms.
Find out first hand how Vancouver and the Discovery Islands were shaped and how all these fossils formed. Campbell River’s Discovery Passage SeaLife Society will be hosting Graham Beard, president of Vancouver Island’s Palaeontological Society, and a leading expert on our fossils, this Wednesday, November 9th, 7pm at the Maritime Heritage Centre.
Graham has collected over 25,000 fossils over his many years of studying them around the world. From tiny shells to huge ammonites, from shark teeth to dinosaurs – be ready for a fascinating journey through the eons! No reservations are needed and entrance is by voluntary donation.
