The Garden Club topic on Monday November 14th is: Helping Pollinators: How to Create & Sustain a Pollinator-Friendly Environment. Organic gardener & bee-keeper Kathryn Manry first started keeping honeybees in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains about 30 years ago. When she moved to Quadra Island in 2011, she re-established a few hives and maintains them as valuable pollinators. Kathryn will utilize her background as a teacher to explain the miraculous work of bees, insects and birds as part of the essential cycle of plant fertility and food sustainability. Kathryn will also describe the preventable hazards facing pollinators and what we can do to promote the health of all pollinators in our communities.
We meet Monday evening at 7 pm at the Community Centre. After all the rain in the last month, can you bring some flowers or produce for the show and tell table? Annual membership is $10 or $15 per family. Drop Ins $3.
