Held at Rebecca Spit Provincial Park on May 27th, May Day is our annual Quadra Island celebration of spring.
For the past 118 years Island residents have come out to celebrate spring with a giant community picnic at Rebecca Spit. These Quadra specific celebrations are complete with a children's May Pole dance performance, a themed parade of homemade floats, costumed walkers, cyclists, a concession stand, games, entertainment, face painting, a boxed lunch auction and much more! There are prizes for the best parade floats and costumes and a greased pole climbing competition with prize money! Celebrations kick off at ten o'clock with the parade.
Suggestion boxes for themes are at the Community Centre, the Elementary School, the Library and the local the Tru Value grocery stores so that Islanders can submit their creative theme suggestions!
Be part of this annual celebration by volunteering in the concession, joining the parade with your own float or by simply cheering on the contestants!
This event is organized by the Quadra Island Community Centre. If you'd like to get involved or volunteer please contact us by phone at 250-285-3243 or by email at infoquadrarec.bc.ca
