The Christmas season starts early this year with a rollicking, boisterous pantomime. Theatre Quadra’s production of playwright Ben Crocker’s Cinderella is guaranteed to delight people of all ages. This panto version of a beloved fairy tale is designed to ignite laughs on so many levels.
Adults will enjoy the outrageous double-entendres and even the smallest kids will be enchanted by a fairy godmother and her magic. Written by “the wittiest and most original writer working in pantomime today”, this classic English Christmas season panto is fun for all ages. And, prepare to get involved yourself – there will be lots of actor/audience interplay. Girls are encouraged to dress up as princesses or fairy godmothers and help make magic. Boys can take charge of getting the whole audience to cheer the good guys and boo the bad ones.
Let the nasty stepmother and the greedy stepsisters know what you think of them as they go to ridiculous lengths to try to get a man. Cheer on the prince and the lovely Cinderella as they fall in love. Get directly involved with Cinderella’s excitable, best friend Buttons and enjoy his silent but bouncy pet mouse. There are all sorts of surprises in store as well as an eclectic selection of music ranging from the Beatles to Bob Marley and Madonna.
Cinderella is brought to life by some of Quadra’s most talented artists and theatre folk. They include director, Mike McIvor; well-known Quadra artist Candace Holmes who graces the production with her imaginative set designs as well as co-producing with Gloria Rolfsen; and Linda Cannon who lends her extensive experience to the production as Music Director. She hopes you will sing along.
Treat yourself and your kids to some pre-Christmas fun and laughs. Cinderella runs at the Quadra Community Centre on Friday and Saturday evenings, November 17th and 18th, with a matinee Sunday afternoon, November 19th. Tickets are $15 for adults and seniors, $10 for students, with children under 12 admitted free.
Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity for family fun! Tickets are available at Inspirations and Works of H’Art on Quadra Island, and Music Plant in Campbell River.
