Despite what it felt like this past summer, 2017 was not the driest year on record. 2017 was the 5th driest year on record. The total rainfall equivalent in 2017 was 1,283 mm. The driest year on record was 2008 at 1,154 mm. 2017 set the record for the driest month twice (in January and December) and missed by 3 mm in August.
2016 was the 4th wettest year on record at 1,755 mm. The wettest year on record was 1995 at 1,957 mm. 2016 set the record for the wettest month once in October.
