Quadra Island Salmon Enhancement is hosting Tom Brown to give a talk on Friday February 9th, at 7pm in Room 3 at the Quadra Community Centre.
The first part of Tom's talk will show how coho juveniles survive the winter using off-channel sites (swamps, flood plains). The second part of his talk is about what happens when you log a watershed, and especially how this affects salmon. Tom has been an expert witness in numerous habitat violations.
Tom Brown has an MSc. in Forestry from UBC (in the use of abandoned channels by coho juveniles), and specializes in forest hydrography. He has worked for the DFO at The Pacific Biological Station in Nanaimo for almost 3 decades.
I hope you can come. Admission by donation. Desserts and hot drinks available.
