On Monday, March 12 Allan Mandell presents his intriguing slide show and talk entitled “Soft Light and No Wind” featuring the stunning gardens of Kyoto, Japan.
Allan will also provide simple tips on how to incorporate design elements of Japanese gardens into our own gardens.
The talk is at Quadra Island Community Centre from 7-9 pm. Admission for members is free and for non-members is only $3.00
Allan will share his secrets about garden photography while enchanting the audience with his evocative images of Japanese gardens.
Allan is a professional photographer specializing in gardens, and he is also a garden tour leader. Since 1994 his work has been published in over 30 magazines and dozens of books on garden design and horticulture, primarily with Fine Gardening, Sunset, Garden Design, and Canadian Gardening, and Taunton, Sasquatch and Timber Press. Allan’s six books as solo photographer include Naturalistic Gardening, Tea Gardens, Garden Retreats, Artists in Their Gardens, and Garden to Vase. Currently,
Allan’s main creative focus is leading small groups on spring and autumn tours to Kyoto, Japan, a garden-rich destination he fell in love with years ago. He lives with his wife on Quadra Island.
